We are nearing completion of the major engine upgrade of a Series 3 E Type convertible (see first blog). This is primarily changing the carburettor inlet system to full fuel injection with XJS throttle bodies, with modern digital engine management.

The injection manifolds and fuel rail are in place, and wired up. The XJS air filter boxes have been modified to suit the E Type engine bay. The crankshaft trigger wheels has been made and sandwiched between the two halves of the crank pulley, which has been machined to make room – quite complex job.
The Omex ECU is in place and wired-up, along with its sensors and idle speed controller. Various adaptors for electronically mating the fuel injection system with the old engine have been made and fitted. Two six-pack coil per plug ignition coils are fitted.
We should have the engine running by 17th August, and then it’s off to have the ECU mapped and calibrated on a dyno. This will be very special E Type!
