We’ve been lucky enough to work on this unique car. It was originally modified by Guy Salmon to celebrate their 25th anniversary year. They modified five Jaguar XJS cars in total – four convertibles and this rather special coupé.

It came to us needing improvements to its suspension, a full respray and repairs to its engine.

The previous poor repair work and plenty of hidden rust turned the respray job into a bit of a marathon. The body shop did an excellent job converting the original two-tone black and silver scheme to pure black all over – making the Guy Salmon wings on the boot and roof blend in wasn’t easy! However, the results speak for themselves.

For this month’s ‘car of the month’, we’re rather proud to show you this beautiful 5.3 V12 Jaguar Coupe in the much-favoured part facelift body. It’s been in our workshop undergoing a full rebuild and is now ready to go to its new (and very excited) owner.

5.3 V12 part facelift coupe

Its story began when our client saw a similar looking car on our website and asked us: “Can you build me one like that, but with a V12 engine?” A challenge we relish here at KWE! The result? A top class XJS, which we think you’ll agree really looks the part.

Here’s how we did it:

In 2013, we started work to restore the body and suspension of this exceptional XJS car. The list of work we carried out was extensive, including a complete body strip, substantial rust repairs and protection, bare-metal respray, all-new suspension, brakes and steering, engine overhaul, custom exhaust, brand new interior and much more.

The results? See for yourself in this walk-around video and listen to that fabulous 7-litre V12 engine!

The owner recently sold the car at auction through Bonhams in Oxford for an impressive £72,620 – a true reflection of the quality of work and the car itself of course!

Jeremy

This 1989 convertible XJS exudes sophistication with its sleek chrome and tan leather interior. Travelling thousands of miles from Malta, this fine specimen, fondly known as Jeremy, has made quite a journey, and is a far cry from the tired looking car we started work on earlier this year.

On arrival at KWE, it quickly became apparent that the bodywork was in much worse condition than was originally suspected. We found out that the car had been involved in a frontal collision, large amounts of rust were present, and much of it had been disguised with filler and newspaper!

We conducted a full-scale refurbishment that took many months to complete. The engine was stripped and sent to a specialist for internal cleaning and machining. The front and rear suspension assemblies were removed and rebuilt with completely

KWE have been commissioned to rebuild an extremely rare – almost certainly unique – Lister Mark III 7 litre XJS Cabriolet.

This monster of a car, complete with extensive 80’s body styling by Lister, has a highly modified Jaguar V12 7 litre engine, pumping out an estimated 500bhp through a 5 speed Getrag manual gearbox. There is more history on the car here.

A five page article by Ian Cushway appears in the October 2007 issue of Jaguar World Monthly magazine.

Jaguar World MonthlyThe article describes the whole 2 year story and includes comment from the owner, Chris Winn and KWE’s MD Chris Knowles.

For copyright reasons we cannot reproduce the whole article here, so please buy a back copy (October 2007) from http://www.jaguar-world.com/.

Started in 2004, this complex restoration and upgrade is finished and the car has been delivered to its patient new owner!

287_1_F2FinishedSideApart from our standard suspension renewal and handling upgrade, V12 intensive service and interior renewal, the car has had a unique high performance multipoint emulating LPG conversion affording higher power than on petrol and with two tanks to provide over 350 miles range.

Additional items include front and rear parking sensors, integrated satellite navigation, 7 speaker DVD/CD changer audio system, iPod connection, modified mid console to include analogue clock, deleting trip computer and reduced switch count.
