- Comments Off on The HdV “Pepperpot” wheel
There are big benefits to be had in fitting larger wheels with lower profile tyres to the XJS and Series XJ saloon.
The original tyres are 70 profile which is very tall by today’s standards. Our wheels allow fitment of a range of profiles from 60 to 45 while keeping the diameter the same within a few percent. This is our premier wheel, hand made for us by London Carriage Craft.
It is based on the mid-80s XJS and late Series 3, 2 spoke, 16 inch thick rimmed wheel. The leather cover is removed and replaced with a solid ash foundation. Then 8 pieces of veneer – each mirror-matched – are applied using a vacuum fixture to each quadrant of the wheel, front and rear. The veneer is then clear resin coated and polished to a mirror finish.
The result is a beautiful, hard wearing wood steering wheel with an ideal thickness of rim, yet retaining plenty of Jaguar styling cues to give it a highly authentic look. The spoke design allows a good view of the instruments. If you [...]

The air conditioning system is often regarded as just the air cooling side but should be regarded as the entire air blend, heating and cooling systems, or HVAC for short.
Below you will find brief descriptions of the components, how best to operate the system, common faults and how to resolve them. KWE specialises in repairs of these systems, from a simple re-gas to complex fault-finding.
The system used on the XJS and saloon cars is quite sophisticated and embodies true climate control, that is, automatic temperature control and dehumidification. The major components are: airblend box, system controller or computer, air blowers (fans), heater matrix, hot water valve, refrigeration compressor, condenser radiator, expansion valve, filter dryer and cooler matrix (evaporator).
